Lien

A lien is a legal claim against a debtor's property that secures payment of a debt. A judgment lien can attach to real estate the debtor owns, meaning the debt may have to be paid before the property can be sold or refinanced.

What Lien means for creditors

Liens create patient leverage: even when a debtor won't pay today, a properly recorded lien can secure eventual recovery at sale or refinance. MSB evaluates lien strategy on secured and high-value commercial accounts.
